@TonyStark Chevy Bolt since last year. Don't miss gas stations, emissions inspections, etc. Love the independence from oil and gas. America needs to get off the giant gas guzzlers.
EVs are cool. After the tax breaks and incentives, it was cheaper than a same sized gas car.
DeSantis throws bizarre tantrums instead of leading. His state is teeming with Covid cases and his priority is helping it spread. To kids.
He lied about what President Biden actually said about state governors needing to help ot get out of the way and blames everything and everyone but himself for his utter failure as a governor during a crisis.
Florida residents are paying the price for his arrogance and selfishness. Schools should defy his ignorance.
Since he thinks Covid protocols are an infringement on "freedom", DeSantis should volunteer at a Florida hospital full of Covid patients and see what an infringement on freedom really looks like.
Some Florida school districts push ahead with mask mandates, defying DeSantis’s threat to cut funds-
Florida schools are already severely underfunded. Would they even notice if DeSantis followed through?
I'm glad to see some schools are putting the health & safety of their students& staff first.
I recently bought an EV. I love it. Quiet, fast (as in 0 to 60 in 4 seconds) and I can say goodbye to oil changes and fumes. Zero tailpipe emissions. No more gas. However, I know I am fortunate to be able to afford it and have a place to easily charge it at home.
I am convinced that if given a chance to drive one, and if they were more affordable which they will be as the market grows and more used EVs are available, more and more people will want one. (Though I see plenty of people of modest means driving around $70k pickup trucks, so maybe this isn't as much of an issue.)
The charging network is getting better by the day.
Virtually all of the major car companies are making multi-billion dollar capital investments in EVs. Biden is smart to want the US to be worldwide leaders. Hundreds of thousands of jobs come with that, along with preserving the planet. #ElectricVehicles
Biden pushes for electric vehicles to make up half of U.S. auto sales by 2030-
Perhaps the administration at an institution that named its law school for Antonin Scalia should not be surprised to face a lawsuit over the “freedom” to infect others with a deadly illness.
They will lose. Multiple judges have found that employers may require vaccination as a condition of employment.
This is awful but on the good news side the two infrastructure packages, especially the partisan one riding on the budget reconciliation, will be huge for climate action and will go a long way to shift us to clean energy and electric vehicles.
If those bills both pass I believe we could see a nearly complete shift to electric vehicles in 10 years. Furthermore Biden will use his power to advance climate goals if legislation stalls similar to what Obama did. He also eventually stopped the Keystone Pipeline and for a number of months put a moratorium on new oil and gas leases on federal lands. Biden knows well the power of the presidency through the Clean Air Act and the EPA and he will use it just as Obama did. Climate change deserves our utmost attention and that is why we HAVE TO VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS UP AND DOWN THE BALLOT EVERY CHANCE WE GET!

How sad. This seems like even more of a reason to me to investigate January 6th.

This article from Oregon governor Kate Brown makes a very important point. Ultimately, climate change will not be solved state by state.
It requires serious efforts and serious policy change at the national level by governments around the world. We need to re-tool our economy to focus on green technology and sustainable environmental practices. Companies that won't play by the new rules need to go out. Transferring polluting industry operations to countries with lax pollution rules also needs to be stopped, by setting up international regulations through the WTO or other organizations.
The West Is on Fire. It’s Past Time to Act on Climate Change:
@YinzPittsburghers People are mad at Martha (a restaurant, not a person) here for doing that but I'm not going out to dinner with anyone who isn't vaccinated.
@phillyaccent I have a feeling these restaurants won't be going out of business, despite the trolly comments coming from some.
@YinzPittsburghers Remember how people were bundled up next to outdoor heaters all winter just to eat food they didn't have to cook? When these restaurants are packed this weekend, more will do the same.
I blame anti-vaxxers for ruining a year of fun for kids, so they shouldn't be allowed to have any adult fun like going to restaurants, concerts, or movies.
